Slaves in mind

It has been almost 18 years of democracy in South Africa, but there is still some people who still feel they are not part of the country. They still feel like they do not belong here. The question is: is our rainbow nation the picture that we have or is South Africa still under apartheid? Or our democracy is made out of ice, once it rains, democracy melt and conflict begins.
Apartheid influenced South African in a greater way than we can imagined, most people were left with the mentality of slaves, even after 18 years of democracy there are still people who think like they are still under apartheid, wait for things to happen, that is why people do not want to wake up and do things for themselves, they wait for government to do things for them. I think the reason for that is because black people grew up with that mindset that white people have everything, while they grew up with nothing, they have to start from the ground after apartheid while white people had everything they needed, went to good schools etc.
The issue is not with blacks only, some white people they still cannot accept the fact that they no longer have 100% full control of the whole country that is where the problem start, because there are lot of law in South Africa, one of the is a right to free speech, Things like that do put a question in the minds of others about our democracy, they sit and wonder if is really a democratic country or we are a bunch of people who pretend to be free because we want other countries to see us that way or we do not want to do anything that will involve conflict, so we sit in our balcony or under trees, protecting what we have and deal with everyone who is invading our space in our own little planets.
Even though we still blinded by the fascinating past. I do believe each and every South African will realise that we are free, even though we still pretend that we are not, or remain like slaves while we free, I believe that we will come into our senses and embrace the privileges.
